Wiggedy Wack.

In the 'Wack for Christmas. Tomorrow I'm going to be down at mom's shop, The Sacred Well, happily blowing a good portion of my gift money.

I keep a magical supply cabinet in my bedroom. It's a lovely old glass-fronted corner unit that my step-mother gave to us - we used to keep our fancy glassware in it in the old apartment. Now it houses herbs, incenses, and candles. LOTS of candles. Except right now my supply is running a bit low, hence being so excited to visit the shop. Mom stocks the Motor City Hoodoo brand, which I'm a fan of. I try to always have a good selection at the ready because you never know when you or someone you know is going to suddenly need a little help. I try to always keep at LEAST an uncrossing/reversing, a money draw, and a compelling candle in the cabinet. I actually have a bigass Lucky Mojo hexing candle still in there, which must mean nobody's severely pissed me off in over a year. That in itself is amazing.

Think I might pick up DuQuett'es My Life With the Spirits if she still has a copy since I enjoyed Low Magick so much.

Okay, it's past midnight and I still need to set my hair. Hope everyone had a good solstice!

Cleansing Ritual Bath

For this spell you will need:

One black candle.
Two white candles.
Basil.
Hyssop.
A piece of tissue paper and a pen.
Another candle of your own choosing.

Charge the black candle with the intent to dispel negativity.

Put the kettle on. Pray over the basil and hyssop, charging them with purification. Once the kettle boils, pour them over the herbs – you'll want to have them wrapped in cheesecloth or something for less clean-up. While the tea steeps, run a bath – you'll want enough water to sit in.

On the tissue paper, carefully write out all the negative things you want removed from your life right now.

Add the tea to your bath – save the container you made it in. Light two white candles and place them on the ground before the tub – you want to make a sort of doorway or path you must step through. Strip and step into the bath. Put the tissue paper carefully on the floor of the tub and kneel on top of it.

Now use the cup or bowl you made the tea in to scoop up the bathwater. Pour it over your head while repeating your intent. The incantation I use is the following:

In the name of all spirits in my employ
In the name of my ancestors
In the name of the ancient gods
I cleanse myself/this child of all evil

Douse your head slowly, letting the water run over your body. Do this five times.

When you are finished, unplug your bath and exit the tub, passing between the white candles. Scoop out a cup/bowl full full of the bathwater before the tub empties. The tissue paper should have dissolved during all of this, and been suced down the drain. If not, be sure to scoop up the remnants.

Let your body air dry.

(...safely take care of the white candles.)

Get dressed and get yourself to a crossroads. Throw the bathwater out in one direction, and head home the opposite way. Do not look back.

Let the black candle burn out – I like to use the small ones so that part gets done with ASAP.

Now you're going to take your other candle of choice and focus on something positive. The idea here is that you've cleared out the gunk, and instead of filling up that psychic space with MORE clutter, you're going to draw good things in instead. It can be money, romance, good health... whatever. Something the opposite of what was on your list. That one you can burn over a couple of days.
